Common questions
How much do new stairs cost?
It depends on how high the stairs go, how wide they are, the timber you pick and whether you need handrails. We take a look and give you a clear written quote. Obligation free.
Do my stairs need a handrail?
Under the building code, stairs need a balustrade where someone could fall 1 metre or more. Most stairs also need a handrail down at least one side. We tell you what yours need when we take a look.
What timber is best for outdoor stairs?
Hardwood treads last best outside. Spotted gum and blackbutt are good picks. We talk you through the options for your spot.
How long does it take?
Most stair jobs take a few days on site. You get a start date with your quote, and we keep you posted along the way.
Are my stairs covered by a warranty?
Yes. NSW law gives home building work a 6-year warranty on major defects, like structural problems, and 2 years on other defects. On jobs over $20,000 we also take out HBCF home warranty insurance through icare. It protects you if we can’t finish the job or fix a defect, for example if we go out of business.
